Opening in 1950 as a Fireplace shop on Troost The Fireside quickly moved to the Country Club Plaza in 1952. After a fire in the early '60's the Fireside expanded from just a Fireplace shop adding mantel accessories, gifts, collectables, candles and Christmas décor.
Rebuilding again after the 1977 flood the Fireside on the Plaza continued to grow, adding antique Fireplace Furnishings from England and bringing in a new custom glass door manufacture, the David Kimberly Door Company. Continued prosperity through the '80's saw the introduction of the Country Club Plaza Christmas Ornament in 1984 as well as the development of realistic hand painted gas logs. Firmly established as the place to go for Fireplace Furnishings and collectables the Fireside offered the perfect solution for your fireplace along with that ideal gift for loved ones, becoming Everything Your Hearth Desires
As the Fireside moved from first to second generation and added the third generation the century was fast coming to an end. As all things change so had Kansas City's beloved Plaza. After 47 years on the Country Club Plaza the Fireside decided it was time for a change of venue. Closing the Country Club Plaza location in July of 2000 the Fireside moved forward with the Fireside Custom Hearth Collection, Design Center and Showroom.
Opening in October of 2001 at 79th and Switzer the Fireside returns to Kansas City and to its' origins. Designing and Displaying Fireplace Furnishings Exclusive to the Mid-West, the Fireside mixes one of a kind Furnishings with Custom Designed and Built Furnishings remaining Kansas City's oldest Fireplace shop. |
