Firesets / Toolsets showed up in history around 800 AD. Shovels and bellows helped tend the warming fires. Tongs were designed for work in the forge, but found their way to fireplaces to adjust burning logs. Toolsets or Firesets (the terms seem to be interchangeable) today are both very functional and decorative. They can be hanging, usually several single tools, or standing, usually with 3 or 4 tools with a center stand. While the majority of toolsets are actually used for tending fires, many toolsets are decorative additions to enhance the hearth. Toolsets come in all metal finishes in many styles and designs.
